So a verification that what you do with the word is important too…. not that proof was really needed!

Free, offer, save, discount, leading, advice, learn, discover, proven, benefits, enjoy, great

It’s where you place, them too. From an email POV first two or three words of the para or subject can be better than buried.

Thanks Guys! Two different types of humour! Like your examples Bryan.

Here’s my attempt,

ATTRACT ATTENTION: Free, Danger, Sex, ‘Bavarian Crème Doughnuts’
CREATE TRUST: Guaranteed, certified, tested
URGE ACTION: Only 5 left in stock!

Ok some were more than one word. And doughnuts might have stood out because of the relation to the other words, yet powerful maybe 🙂

I would like to point out the words on the list may be the words that increase CTR on PPC campaigns.

I haven’t read any scientific research to back this claim up. However, in my experience and from the opinions of others, words like ‘free’ appear to increase CTR. Although it may also lead to increased bounce rates.

The same type of advice is discussed in design too, make X this big, use colour Y for that etc. How the colours are painted is key and that has to be right for the person who will be looking at the painting.
