Combined with Machine Learning we can get some interesting insights. Marketing automation is kind of a “must-have” technology these days. We’ve started recently with GetResponse. I think that sooner than later it will be a standard technology in most companies. It’s easier to handle things when you can automate some processes.

That makes perfect sense Michael – we see too that many haven’t adopted MA – even welcome sequences, but I think they’re missing out. We have separate email marketing and MA channels on the blog – so we’ll certainly continue to feature them both. All the best for year ahead!

Thanks for your quick reply. I understand your reasoning. I come across scores of folks focused on core email marketing with little or no interest in marketing automation. And, to some extent, vice versa. Hence, given the continued massive importance and ROI efficiency of the email channel, I would have thought the channel deserves its own category. That’s why I asked. Stay well, Dave.

Hi Michael and HNY! I have included Email marketing as part of MA since we think it’s natural to advise on them together – most ESPs have now evolved to include MA functionality – so all of our resources in this area are in one toolkit: http://www.smartinsights.com/improve/email-marketing-toolkit/ It’s called Email AND Marketing Automation – so they’re given equal billing

So for simplicity really – why do you ask?

hi Dave, happy new year! Any particular reason why you decided to omit email marketing as its own category- and instead include behavioral email marketing in your marketing automation category?

But the way the content would used is going to change. People are now more focused on video content rather than reading.

Hi Stefan, thanks for giving your kudos and especially your thoughts.

Yes, customer-centric content works and engaging infographics – especially for B2B – but put a lot of time to make them unique – this is one we’re proud of it.
